Downtown, Jersey City Part of the New York metropolitan area, Jersey City lies between of the Hudson River and Upper New York Bay across from Lower Manhattan.
It is a beautiful area which is very clean and safe with amazing city views. It only takes 10 minutes by subway to get to Manhattan Midtown or Downtown from here. The subway system that runs across the river is also cheaper than regular NY subway (it is called NJ PATH), but you can use the same MetroCard as the one that you use in the city.
The area is beautiful and very safe and right next to the city! You will not have better city views from anywhere else! You also have Liberty State Park right next to where you stay, so you can go to the Statue of Liberty or Governor\´s island at any given time. The park is so amazing (many say it is better than Central park) that you will not want to leave. Not only you have amazing downtown Manhattan views from there, you will also find yourself right next to Ellis Island, you will be able to see Statue of Liberty very close, much better than from New York City! Also Liberty State park boasts a lot of activities like Red Bull Air Race and different concerts and fairs. New Yorkers come to this park for many events. And you can have the most amazing picnic there with those beautiful city views!

The apartment is located just 5 minutes walk away from the beautiful waterfront with amazing Manhattan views. You will be just 2 minutes walk from NJ PATH stop Exchange place or 5 minute walk to Grove Street. If you want to go to downtown New York, you can catch the PATH train from Exchange place and you will be in front of World Trade Center site in less than 10 minutes. If you want to go to Greenwich Village, Chelsea or Midtown you can catch a train from Grove Street stations and you will be in Village in under 10 minutes, on 33rd Street in under 15 minutes. The trains run regularly 24 hours a day and have no service changes on the weekend like New York Subway system. You can buy New York Metro Card and use it on both NJ PATH and New York Subway. NJ Path ride is only $1.75, while New York Subway ride is $2.25.
If you want to travel with style you can also get to New York by ferry - the mean s of transport that many business people from Jersey City use every day. The ferry departs from Colgate clock at right behind Exchange place station and goes to World Financial Center, Wall Street and 38th Street. The ferry ride costs $6.50 per adult.
You also have easy commute to Newark International airport, it will only take you 30 minutes to get there by public transport. You will need to catch a PATH train to Newark (just 3 stops away) and walk across the platform for the train to Newark Airport.
There is so much to do in Downtown Jersey City - you have numerous cafes and restaurants which can rival New York restaurants. You also have many food stores - big and small - so yo can cook at home. In summer yo have 2 farmer´s markets in the area - one in Van Vorst park (on Saturdays) and one right outside of Grove Street PATH station (On Tuesday and Thursday).
If you would like to exercise you can join numerous runners who love to run on the waterfront with the city views. If you prefer the gym - you can use an amazing H gym just one block away from Grove Street PATH. |
